Recently the KJ class applied to the P&C for a student grant to assist them in purchasing hand and finger puppets. Rather than fill out the form, the children met with a P&C rep who made audio recordings of the children’s grant application. This enabled the children to tell us in their own words why having puppets helps them understand and tell stories
In kindergarten the children are engaging with books and storytelling, their engagement is enhanced by the use of story props and puppets to explore the stories they are reading.
The variety of puppets also encourages co-operative play for the students, so sets with multiple puppets were chosen, as well as a variety of animals from some of the kids favourite stories.
The student grant was approved and the kids are very excited about using the puppets in class.
